How to Use (click to expand)
⚠️ Keyboard Required: This test uses Z and V keys (not mobile-friendly)
  1. Click/tap the test area to begin.
  2. You'll see 5 arrows: ← ← ← ← ← or β†’ β†’ β†’ β†’ β†’ or mixed patterns.
  3. Your task: Respond only to the center (middle) arrow direction.
  4. Press Z if the center arrow points left (←).
  5. Press V if the center arrow points right (β†’).
  6. Ignore the surrounding arrows! They are distractors designed to test your focus.
  7. Congruent trials: All arrows point the same way (easier): ← ← ← ← ←
  8. Incongruent trials: Side arrows point opposite to the center (harder): β†’ β†’ ← β†’ β†’
  9. Press Esc or Space to pause/resume at any time.
  10. The test measures sustained attention, interference control, and the Flanker Effect (RT difference between congruent and incongruent trials).
  11. A smaller Flanker Effect indicates better cognitive control and the ability to ignore distractions.
